Wherever we may look, people cannot seem to stop shouting about the beauty of content and frankly we know just why; because in the world of SEO and online marketing, content is the key to success.  "Content is king" is a frequently used phrase in the online world and the reason behind it is simple; the content produced on your website, on external sources, on blogs, social media sites and so on is the clinching factor that will ensure your success; drawing in your audiences, creating a presence on Google and making your website the ideal location for a customer purchase.

Now hopefully as a business; you fully understand the need for online content but have you adopted content curation? Unlike auto blogging; content curation does not give you the opportunity to 'steal' blog content to use as your own but in fact allows you to borrow a snippet of content that appeal s to your audience while providing a link back to the site where you found it; working on the premise that you are providing your audience with the best news from your industry. A word of warning however; if you simply rely on content curation or you try to pull a fast one and steal the majority of content then  your search engine rankings will be greatly affected and you could find yourself on the receiving end of a law suit…so don't even think about it!

The theory behind successful content curation is not simply to collect snippets of articles but to also comment on them and begin implementing your own view on the said topic which, not only protects your business from any copyright issues but allows you to stay on the right side of Google… the search engine spiders are not going to take too kindly to finding your website filled with content created by other companies. Content curation is simply the process of mixing external content with your own, creating a great variety and allowing your website to stand out that little bit more and what's more; you may find yourself getting much needed backlinks that could aid your ranking growth considerably.

We've lost count of the times we have argued that content curation can work wonders for your website but if you are to implement this within your online strategy then ensure that it is done right; or you could find yourself facing far more trouble than you need…
