Here are 8 reasons why SEO is an important piece of the marketing puzzle. Feel free to add your own in the comments section or just tell us what you think about our 8 reasons!
1. Search Engine Optimisation can help your business grow
If you want more customers, more leads, more enquiries and more people reading about what you have to say, SEO can help. The internet is a global marketplace where people seem to have overcome their fears about online purchasing, an overwhelming number of online transactions (enquiries, leads and sales) are derived from people using search engines – Typically Google.
2. Your competitors will already be engaged in SEO activities
Enter a search term in Google for the main keywords that describe your business and you'll see which of your competitors are engaging in SEO activities. You'll most likely find some additional competitors that you didn't even know existed. It's time to act and start investing if you aren't already.
3. Clicks are Free when you're there
Once you are ranking in search engines, let's say in the top 3 you will get a larger proportion of the overall available clicks and these won't cost a penny when you're there.
4. Paid search can be too expensive
As more businesses turn to the internet in favour of traditional media they're investing in pay per click (PPC) activities, which, by the nature of paid search increases the overall cost per click for everyone – After all PPC is a click auction.
5. Organic results are preferred
Natural search results can provide a larger number of visitors than paid search because people prefer the natural results to being advertised to. Statistically if you're ranking position 1-3 in natural search results you will gain approximately 14% of the overall search volume vs. an average of 3% -5% when engaged in paid search activity.
6. It's not all about being number 1 for a specific keyword
A lot of marketers make the mistake of trying to achieve ranking for a
small set of phrases because they believe that these phrases will drive the
best returns.
In actual fact there may be 100's if not 1,000's of keywords a website can
target that will drive a better conversion rate but lower traffic. It's really all about balancing the
distribution and tying it back to a return on investment.
7. People trust Google to deliver
Google is the peoples search engine, providing over 65% of search traffic to websites globally. Why, because Google delivers the results people want to see and have done consistently over the years by innovating and growing the market. Google's quest is to deliver relevant results to the query entered and in doing so uses a number of factors determine a websites suitability to be in that top echelon, I'd narrow it down to 3 personally – Relevancy, Trust & Authority, which you aren't going to achieve overnight
8. Build a better website with SEO
These days SEO is more than just throwing a few words on a page! It's about how accessible your site is, how quick it loads, how relevant your content is, how easy your site is to navigate, what your link profile looks like and a whole host of other things that make your website a better user experience.
