Uh oh, someone's in trouble!

We are all aware of the extent of Google's power; from the moment it hit the internet it revolutionised the world and the way we view it. The ethos behind the search engine has always been to provide users with a unique and refined service; a search engine experience that gives the user just what they need…or so we thought.

The popularity of the internet has undoubtedly grown and hence the fight amongst internet companies for the title of supreme ruler has been kicked up a notch too. Google has definitely been feeling the pressure as it has been revealed that the internet leader has been tampering with search results. That's right; the search engine that has offered the world an experience that caters to user needs, has been fiddling with the algorithm to ensure that results which benefiting itself receive the ideal spot!

The search engine giant controls a massive percentage of the global market yet with the rising power of Facebook and other online services it seems as though it is no way content with its position and has decided to push its own services…how long has this abuse been going on?

Reports have revealed that the European Commission is taking action and has written to Google demanding it make required changes within a certain time frame or it will begin an official investigation. Google has yet to make any official statement but no doubt there will be a lot of angry faces around the world; most particularly the businesses who have invested in search engine marketing and PPC campaigns only to now find that Google had its own ideas.

How ever Google initially reacts, it is vital that it makes the required changes or risk losing the trust of users and businesses everywhere.
