Staying on top of Online Marketing
The internet; a fantastic invention that excited the whole world and today a fundamental tool in communication, of which life without, seems utterly impossible. Imagine not being able to check your Facebook or Twitter account, to not be able to read the news and the latest gossip while on the go, to search for local companies and businesses and to catch up on that TV programme you missed last week. Imagine going back to basics; using the yellow pages and having to make telephone calls and hold face to face conversations…sounds strange, highly daunting and altogether an impossible take doesn't it?
It is safe to say that we have entered a realm in which the internet is a ruling body and businesses of all industries and all sizes are at its feet bowing tothe power that lies before them. Ok, we know its all rather dramatic but it is most definitely just to state that with the number of people accessing Google, social media and a range of other sites on a daily basis, online marketing is a make or break factor in long term success.
Online marketing is the way forward and that is about as simple as we can put it. By marketing business products, services and styles online in a unique and considered format; with a high quality website, a social media presence and a range of content, a business is placed in a position to reach millions of users on the online platform and potentially convert them into customers. That is as simple as we can put it and that is as simple as it needs to be; online marketing really is the bees knees.
Nothing in life comes easy and the same principal is in play with online marketing; success is difficult and requires a lot of hard work, diligence and patience and more so in a competitive and highly unstable economic market. As the number of businesses attempting to capitalise on the online market grows; the competitive level of internet marketing doubles and leaves many wondering what they can do to ensure they can come out on top.
Here are a few quick points that, if utilised correctly; will ensure your online marketing strategy remains fresh and gives you a fighting chance.
- Measure- There is nothing more effective then measuring each avenue your online marketing is going down. Whatever you do, whatever route you decide to take your campaign down; tracking everything and not just onsite traffic, will help you determine what is working, what needs tweaking and what you could do without. The more you know, the more you can prepare for success.
- Fresh- Don't pick a few routes and stick with them. Far too many companies decide on a website and a blog and stick with it and Bob's your uncle; they fail to see any results. The online platform is forever changing so constantly look for new ways to target your audience and make that big bang.
- Video- Anyone who is anyone in online marketing will know that video is now growing in popularity and will soon become Google's flavour of many many months so if possible; integrate YouTube and video marketing within your strategy to give your business a further edge.
- Reputation- It takes years to build a reputation and moments to destroy it. Whether it is on social media, a blog or even your own website there will always be the chance that a disappointed customer will want to make their feelings all too clear. Set up a Google alerts account and stay on top of your reputation as nothing is more pivotal in success then an untarnished image.
The only secret to online marketing is that it is one hell of a long, hard and arduous battle that will need to be fought daily. Stay on the ball and do everything you can to give your business an edge because during a time of austerity; online marketing can make the world of difference.
