In the world of online marketing; your landing page is the most crucial tool at your disposal and will be the difference between success and failure. Whether your business is opting for SEO marketing strategies, PPC advertising or both, they will all lead to one thing and one thing only; getting that customer on your landing page and enticing that all important sale.

Your landing page is the page a link, search or advertisement will lead to i.e. if your user is searching for black curtains your landing page should of course take the customer to black curtains, if your user stumbles upon a PPC advertisement offering discounted black curtains then again your landing page should cater to this and if the user reads an article on unique curtain designs and a link is placed on the term 'black curtains' then again your customer should be taken to the right page….I am rambling quite a bit but you can understand my point; your landing page is the piece de résistance that gives the customer what they want and will clinch the deal.

Sounds relatively simply does it not? Well it is but you would be surprised how many businesses fail to get it right.

Imagine searching for a product and being taken to a page packed full of text, leaving you unsure of where to turn; well this is a problem faced by customers daily. Landing pages should be clear, concise and most of all, as simple as possible. Far too many businesses fail to make landing pages clear and provide a main focal point or action however; leaving the consumer to guess what they need to do next is most definitely not the best way to secure a sale. Landing pages should have a clear objective in mind and provide customers with a path to take…securing a sale should never be left to chance.

How many times have you liked what you have seen but gotten put off by the large number of details a company requires? Well it is the same for your customers too. Nobody likes to give away too much information and they certainly don't like to be tricked into landing on a page that doesn't give them what they ask for but instead demands details. Take it slow with your customers; give a little and you will be sure to get in return.

A picture speaks a thousand words; do yours? Searching for a product means that 9 times out of 10 a consumer is looking to make a purchase but of course, as anyone would, they want to see what they are about to buy. Far too many businesses fail to incorporate clear and useful images on landing pages, leaving customers bored and losing interest fast.

Whatever your business and whatever your industry; online marketing is critical to success so ask yourself; do your landing pages really do the job?
