SEO and the Importance of Content
Yesterday, as part of our SEO guide we told you all about the importance of keywords and their fundamental role in ensuring the success of an SEO strategy. Did it sink in? we hope it did as far too many people misunderstand the importance of the right keywords but hopefully you have grasped it right so now we can move on to the next phase in our SEO guide; the creation of that all-important content.
It's a term that has been used time and time again but it really does hit the nail on the head; when it comes to SEO; content is king.
As we mentioned in previous posts, keywords are integral players in SEO but in order for them to do their job right and help boost your search engine rankings, they need to be subtly and cleverly embedded throughout your website content and any related content that is produced. It is more than tempting to place your keywords in huge bunches across every page but does it make sense? Does it reflect your business? Probably not and odds are that it will get Google's attention in the wrong way and demote your site all the way to the bottom of the pile. Remember that what you're producing isn't just for the sake of SEO but to attract your customers and promote your business and do you really want to be doing that? We didn't think so. Your content needs to reflect your company so it is of utter importance that it is produced to the highest standard…it is all good and well producing a barley readable piece for the sake of a link but what good is it if no one reads it and the link is never even used?
Imagine stumbling onto a piece that makes no sense, is littered with spelling and grammatical errors and pretty much doesn't even sound like English; is that going to make you want to delve any further? Truth be told it will make you click away in the blink of an eye, nobody would be drawn in by anything less than perfect so keep that in mind.
Whatever your business, ensure that content is unique, regularly updated, appropriate and relevant and don't be afraid to be a little adventurous. Ok, so we all can't be Pulitzer Prize winning authors but remember that your content has a job to do; to entice the audience so make sure you keep that in mind. Grab the attention of your audience for more than a few seconds and you may be on to a winner.
Never forget that on the World Wide Web, anything and everything is just a click away which means it will take less than a second to lose a potential customer. Do the right thing and create some killer content that will leave your readers wanting more. Content really is king so bow down to it and watch your SEO strategy fall beautifully into place.
