The Social Media Addiction
Ever wonder why internet marketing consultants scream the words 'social media marketing' over and over again? Well it may have something to do with the fact that Google's current algorithm change has now deemed active social profiles, particularly on the big wigs that are Facebook, Twitter and of course its own Google+ as important in deeming ranking position however what about the other role it plays?
It is easy to get lost in the world of search engine optimisation; after all it is a fully optimised online presence that will be the make or break factor of your success but what about that word; marketing? Online marketing is no different to offline marketing in that it is a method by which a business can grow their brand image, profile and reach a higher customer base and that's what a strong social profile can assist with.
A website is the opportunity for a business to push a product or service and grab that all important sale whereas a social profile is a chance to grow a brand image and provide a chance for followers to warm to a brand and according to a recent study; women are the ones your business will more likely reach.
A recent study conducted at the University of Bonn has discovered new evidence of a genetic variant linked to internet addiction, which is most likely found in women; ultimately revealing that internet addiction is no longer an imagined diagnosis. The study, conducted amongst a group of nearly a thousand women revealed that those displaying problematic internet behaviour were likely to be carrying the gene.
Although further research is required; the study suggests that the popularity of social networking sites could be behind the trend however scientists have yet to determine why online obsessions affect some and not others.
Still think a Facebook page won't affect your online presence?
