Flash, once considered the ultimate website tool that provided glamour, style and a distinct level of coolness to websites;  is  now deemed one of the most embarrassing 'did that really happen' phases that our beloved internet went though.

Like a typical teenager; the online world embraced Flash in all its form and worshipped its rock star status but now…well now, it might not be the one tool that any strong website will want to turn to.

Whatever your reasons may be; if you simply cannot let go of Flash then perhaps our top five reasons might make you think otherwise…

  • As SEO and the importance of online marketing grows; it has now, never been more crucial to ensure that a website is as visible as possible however, with Flash this is one feat that will be greatly hindered. The search bots are unable to crawl Flash; it is as simple as that so ensure anything you want Google to pick up on, is in text format.
  • Flash limits SEO to a frightening extent! With Flash, URLS's for different pages are not possible and hence you simply fail to exist in the eyes of the search bots. The same issue applies with any link value you have obtained; with Flash you simply won't stand out.
  • Accurate reporting is like shooting blindly! We all know that analytics data is essential to determine what is working and what isn't however with Flash, data will rarely be accurate.
  • If there is one thing we all know, with Flash; things are not as flashy as they may seem. Flash player will significantly slow down the loading time of your website and the slower the loading time; the faster your customers will disappear.

It may have once had a rock star status but gone are the days in which Flash was the must have web tool. Put in a drawer marked 'vintage' and move forward….Flash is no longer in power.
