Let's face it, for as long as we can remember, as amazing as it is; Twitter has been a rather boring looking site. A traditional albeit small profile section and tiny box for an image was the best that the site provided however; it seems as though the big wigs behind the scenes have finally decided to keep up with the times.

In its biggest overhaul for over five years; Twitter has finally launched a new look site. Adopting an approach made famous by Facebook; the site has implemented a cover photo as well as photo streaming across a multitude of technologies; displaying its appreciation of the growth of mobile technology.

Adored by legions of users, celebrities and even politicians; Twitter has become a fundamental tool in the way the world communicates; a feat it has proven time and time again but lately during the London 2012 Olympics in which specific hash tags including #TeamGB were trending at a breath taking level.

The sites changes have yet to be fully implemented by users across the world but are no doubt indicative of the ever growing importance of social media as a central tool of communication.

We wonder if any more changes will be on the way…
