The Communication and Data Bill

Everyone knows that the beauty of the World Wide Web is that it does exactly what it says on the tin; instantly connects people around the world. Whether it is email, video, instant chat or social media we are able to connect no matter where we are in the world and thanks to SEO marketing and PPC advertising we are also able to connect to businesses and find a service for any need.
As such a wide, open space; internet security has always been an issue and we all know that, whether we are sending an email or logging onto a social media profile, maintaining our own safety is the number one priority. You never know who could be watching and reading and just who you could be exposed to; however thanks to the government's latest bill we will at least know of one group of people that will be watching our every move.
The government has officially announced a legislation that will expand the level of surveillance on the internet and on mobile technology. Referred to as the Communications and Data Bill; the legislation will now enable law enforcement to track all emails and social media profiles of just about anyone they wish and as expected, not everyone is taking so kindly to the changes.
The controversial legislation, introduced on the day of the leveson enquiry has opened the world to further exposure and vulnerability and the tax payer will be left facing the mass cost needed to cover the data collection and storage…is that really a good idea? Although there will be no 'real time' data collection; mobile phone and internet companies will be required to hand over complete details, call logs and data, should the situation arise.
The surveillance will long be a major political issue and it is safe to say there will never be common ground on the liberties that are threat but only time will tell whether this is one legislation that is worth the pain and strain….
What do you think?
