Internet marketing specialists, continuously reiterate that successful SEO is a daily battle that requires a great deal of effort; effort which is often marred by the never ending updates made to the Google algorithm. Given pretty little names (probably to distract from the severity of the changes) the algorithm updates should be considered the bible of the internet marketing world and followed to the t. After-all, it is Google that decides just how and where your website will rank; follow its rules and you will do just fine…fail and you could wind up pushed into internet oblivion.

One of the latest updates to the algorithm has been the Penguin (try not to get confused with the panda here…although we wouldn't blame you if you did) and whether you are an SEO specialist or a business owner; knowing what you need to do and how is an absolute is a must.

Panda is the update that focuses more on quality and page content whereas the Penguin update focuses on black hat SEO and unnatural link techniques and just a few day ago; Penguin underwent yet another update to its system.

Last week, Matt Cutts announced that Google had given Penguin yet another refresh, designed to affect searches across multiple languages. The update, tested by Cutts himself who decided to keep the world updated via Twitter); is said to have affected only 0.3% of English language sites and will instead largely impact those including Spanish and French.

Google has announced that it expects to implement further jolts to the Penguin algorithm; in its continuing battle to target web spam in general and the number of low quality inbound links towards a site.

Quality has never been more crucial to web success; hopefully the latest updates won't have affected you however there is more to come so ensure your website is ready to tick all of the right boxes.
