Yahoo and Google?
Yahoo has officially announced former Google Executive Marissa Maher to be its new CEO; the fifth in what can only be described as the most difficult five years for the firm which was once a leading search engine giant.
Following the discovery that former CEO Scott Thompson lied about his computer science degree; the firm has struggled to find a solid replacement but will no doubt be breathing a huge sigh of relief following a subtle swipe of one of Google's best. It is easy to say that Maher's appointment will have a lot of hope and anticipation attached to it as Yahoo has slowly lost out to the growing dominance of Google's search engine and online marketing services that have taken the world by storm.
Although it has been confirmed that Maher will in fact be heading onto maternity leave it comes as no surprise that Yahoo's men in charge chose to hire the woman who was a renowned leader at Google and helped develop some of the most respected Google products and features including the iconic homepage.
For years, Yahoo has seemingly struggled in the market and after news break just a week ago that account users details had been stolen with ease by a hacking firm it is hard to see whether the search engine giant will be able to find its way out of the massive rut.
Here's hoping…
