In the world of internet browsing, it was more than clear that Google was ruling the roost. The slick, speedy results powered by the ultra-smooth Google Chrome (or the classic internet explorer if you will) has become a favourite amongst users and even businesses who thrive on the ultimate success the search engine can provide thanks to its PPC Adwords and Search Engine Optimisation.

Google has easily got us all transfixed but there are still other search engines out there or have you forgotten that already?

Yahoo was once right there at the top with Google; providing efficient results and a news page that drew the masses however over the past few years it has struggled to keep up in the online wars and has found itself quietly drifting into the background. As Google kicked it up a notch with search engine advancements, Gmail and Google Chrome; Yahoo struggled to maintain a strong image and struggled even more so when reports revealed that former CEO Scott Thompson was forced to stand down as it came to light that he faked his computer science degree…not exactly the ideal image for a world renowned company.

However the struggling search engine is now fighting back with Yahoo Axis. Mobile is the way forward and Yahoo has embraced this with a search engine application that provides a seamless flow of results for those with iPads and iPhones. Axis allows users to conduct a search and in return provides them with a selection of thumbnails of potential results and what's more is that the app will also sync with your desktop; so a search on the train can be continued effortlessly once you reach your desk at sounds ideal for the user and especially those businesses looking to retain web visitors.

Yahoo is most definitely back in the race…the power of search has never been stronger.
