As the leaders of the internet, give or take an opinion or two, one cannot be surprised that Google is and always has remained secretive and highly protective of their every move; after-all, it is that secret algorithm that has pushed the company right into the top spot. Choosing to only ever release small titbits of information and regular and highly questionable algorithm updates; Google has thrown off competitors and self-confessed online geniuses every time.

Secrets, hidden agendas and questionable natures aside; Google delighted the world yesterday by finally opening its doors to a few of its data centres and giving the world a glimpse at the control rooms of the internet.

The unique glimpse gave an insight to a number of highly secretive data centres around the world; all brightly coloured, brightly let and as impressive as we always imagined!

Powering searches, emails and YouTube; the data centres provide a phenomenal insight into just how powerful Google is and just how much work it really takes to power the internet. On a new feature site entitled 'where the internet lives', the rooms that have only ever granted entry to a few restricted personnel the world is now allowed a glimpse into the people and the machines that run the internet.

Looking at the images, there is one thing for sure; we can never conduct a search query quite so vacantly again!
