Earlier this year, Facebook hit the stock market with great hopes, hopes which; in a flicker of an eyelid had all but disappeared and soon, what should have been the greatest initial public offering simply became the greatest disappointment the internet world had ever seen.

It couldn't get any worse; not only for Mark Zuckerberg's creation but for any internet giant involved in the stock market however yesterday, the biggest loss in internet history was suffered, not by Facebook but arch enemy Google.

In what can only be described as the worst internal error in history; Google's printing firm pre released a statement in regards to the firms disappointing earnings before seeking approval. The release was clearly a mistake as, rather than a quote of calm from the company's CEO; all that sat on the page was 'PENDING LARRY QUOTE'.

The failure caused an immense stir amongst investors and as a result; Google's shares dropped by 9 per cent in just eight minutes; causing the single largest stock market loss in history. Whatever and however the error may have occurred; what is clear is that the mistake has cost the firm £15billion and forced the firm's authorities to place a pause on trading.

The financial community is in now in debate over the share prices with many arguing that the shares may return to former strength whilst others believe that the stock market bubble may finally have burst for internet giants.

Whatever now happens, one thing is for certain; heads will roll.
